Music
Music is such an integral part of our lives and it seems like many people do not realize it. Music can bring people together...or it can push people apart. It gives people hope and comfort but over many, many years it has morphed into less about traditional cultural songs and more about rappers and Billboard Top 100. People seem to forget their cultural songs and care more about what is "in". But my point is...music is also about culture and spirit as well as celebrities. Also, isn't music just poetry with a melody?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY...to a mouse?
The most famous mouse (or rodent) in the UNIVERSE had yet another birthday today. Mickey Mouse turned 80 today. He first appeared in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928. He helped Americans through times like the Great Depression. In that stormy time period, along with Minnie, he was the American symbol of hope and "the little man". He was also alive and well during happy times and has been a huge part of millions of childrens' childhoods. He has starred in movies like "Fantasia" and is now part of disney toons like "Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse". Everyone knows those red shorts and loves those white gloves. His face is recognizable worldwide and is the famous symbol of the Walt Disney Brand. Show a picture of him to a child and a smile will instantly appear on their face.

Snow
The first flake hit the ground,
softening all the world's sound.
A pure white blanket covered the land,
it's all under its smothering command.
I looked out my window into a white world,
as more snowflakes curled and twirled.
The dazzling snow was so very white,
the glare on its surface was incredibly bright.
From snowfights to angels etched in the snow,
as the winter wind begins to whistle and blow.
I love this season's magic and wonder,
the rest of the world is hidden under...

OBAMA WON!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I was majorly excited when Obama won!!! I kept repeating to myself,"He won, he won, we have our next president." It didn't sink in until the next day. When it sunk, it was really amazing. Obama won 349 votes- that's a LANDSLIDE victory. For instance, in 2000, Bush only got 271 electoral votes.
McCain's biggest problem was President Bush. Most of the country strongly disliked Bush, and always compared McCain to him. I think that if McCain was elected he would have been very similar to Bush and getting this country out from under 12 years of screw-ups would have been much harder than eight years. McCain's policies were, in my opinion, flawed, unhelpful, and quite terrible. Obama is a new, fresh face in American politics and will change the rest of the world's opinion of the U.S. Probably the most positive thing about McCain was his concession speech. It was thoughtful, kind, insightful and good. I also liked Obama's acceptance speech. It felt proud, nice, and majestic. A wonderful speech by our 44th president.
