The perfect present.
The perfect present is a gift above all the others, a gift to cherish for eternity.
The perfect present is worth more then jewels and gold and silver.
The perfect present is worth more than any price.
The perfect present is full of optimism, hope, and empowerment.
The perfect present is a way of fufilling your life.
The perfect present is living now, not in the future, not in the past.
The perfect present is today, in this minute, in this second, in this present.
And that, is perfect.

Saturday is soo much better then SUNDAY!!
Why is Saturday better than Sunday? Or is it?
YES, Saturday is better then Sunday. On Saturday, the whole weekend is in front of you and your life is full of possibilities. You can stay up as late as you want and wake up as late as you want to. On Sunday, the weekend feels over and the awful torment of Monday stands heavy on the horizon. Many people have church on Sunday or synagogue on Saturday so that can easily influence there decision either way. However, I am part of no religion, so that is not an aspect of my decision making. I simply love the feeling of opportunity on Saturday. Also, almost all sports and recreational activities are on Saturday, which I am an active part of. Besides, Saturday is just a cooler name then Sunday.

WHERE'S THE SNOW?
Ok, I just don't get it. We get below freezing temperatures all the time and we get rain too, but NEVER snow. Unless we are refering to the few tiny one hour flurries, we occasionally have. A WHITE CHRISTMAS WOULD BE NICE!!! There's even a song about that! Anyway, it just doesn't make sense. The weather always heats up right before it rains and then goes back to these stupid temperatures. The snow dances and ice cubes down the drain don't work!!!!! All we need is a bunch of frozen water. How hard can this be?????

A change in a life
I move into a strange land,
An awfully faraway place.
I glance around and take a step;
A look of fright is on my face.
This new world seems different.
It’s bizarre; I’m insecure.
Yet I’m comforted by the weather;
The air is fresh and pure.
The breeze blows in off the mountains
And the sea air is incredibly clean.
The hills are gentle subjects who
Are ruled by a mountain queen.
I step into my new home,
Followed by my dad
I see kids playing in the park;
“Maybe this isn’t so bad.”
Now I’m not a change addict-
I’m perfectly happy without.
But life may shift
It always does
And is it really so bad to reroute?

Music
Music is such an integral part of our lives and it seems like many people do not realize it. Music can bring people together...or it can push people apart. It gives people hope and comfort but over many, many years it has morphed into less about traditional cultural songs and more about rappers and Billboard Top 100. People seem to forget their cultural songs and care more about what is "in". But my point is...music is also about culture and spirit as well as celebrities. Also, isn't music just poetry with a melody?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY...to a mouse?
The most famous mouse (or rodent) in the UNIVERSE had yet another birthday today. Mickey Mouse turned 80 today. He first appeared in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928. He helped Americans through times like the Great Depression. In that stormy time period, along with Minnie, he was the American symbol of hope and "the little man". He was also alive and well during happy times and has been a huge part of millions of childrens' childhoods. He has starred in movies like "Fantasia" and is now part of disney toons like "Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse". Everyone knows those red shorts and loves those white gloves. His face is recognizable worldwide and is the famous symbol of the Walt Disney Brand. Show a picture of him to a child and a smile will instantly appear on their face.

Snow
The first flake hit the ground,
softening all the world's sound.
A pure white blanket covered the land,
it's all under its smothering command.
I looked out my window into a white world,
as more snowflakes curled and twirled.
The dazzling snow was so very white,
the glare on its surface was incredibly bright.
From snowfights to angels etched in the snow,
as the winter wind begins to whistle and blow.
I love this season's magic and wonder,
the rest of the world is hidden under...

OBAMA WON!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I was majorly excited when Obama won!!! I kept repeating to myself,"He won, he won, we have our next president." It didn't sink in until the next day. When it sunk, it was really amazing. Obama won 349 votes- that's a LANDSLIDE victory. For instance, in 2000, Bush only got 271 electoral votes.
McCain's biggest problem was President Bush. Most of the country strongly disliked Bush, and always compared McCain to him. I think that if McCain was elected he would have been very similar to Bush and getting this country out from under 12 years of screw-ups would have been much harder than eight years. McCain's policies were, in my opinion, flawed, unhelpful, and quite terrible. Obama is a new, fresh face in American politics and will change the rest of the world's opinion of the U.S. Probably the most positive thing about McCain was his concession speech. It was thoughtful, kind, insightful and good. I also liked Obama's acceptance speech. It felt proud, nice, and majestic. A wonderful speech by our 44th president.

Men In Black
How awesome is that movie??? Its a hilarious movie with great action and a fantastic plot. The banter was witty. The aliens looked funny, yet realistic. It was made in 1997 and was produced in part by Steven Spielberg. It was nomitated for various awards and won an Academy Award for Best Makeup. This movie got very positive reviews when it was released over ten years ago. I wanted to review a wonderful movie that came out a long time ago, instead of still being in theaters. RENT THIS MOVIE!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!

Sarah Palin!!
Ok, like much of America, I dislike Sarah Palin. I think she is as dumb as a doorknob when it comes to politics. I hate her stupid "lipstick joke" and I think SHE NEEDS TO STOP TRYING TO RELATE TO "YOUNG FOLK". Ok, know that I have that out of my system, let me explain my reasons. She doesn't seem to understand American politics, and is a "washington outsider".
She is a petty, vindicitive woman and not nearly as sweet as her makeup leads everyone to believe. She repeats phrases and quotes many times, which leads me to think that she can't say anything else intelligent. I get the feeling that she is simply repeating what McCain tells her to say...like "maverick" and "cut taxes". Im just wondering..... I do feel bad for her as a person though....just not as a politician.

My Window
I stare out my window at the first buds of spring,
purple and pink and red.
I stare out my window at the summer sky,
bright and hot and gold.
I stare out my window as the leaves all fall,
dancing and twirling in swirls.
I stare out my window at the first winter snow,
as frost clings to the glass.
*not my best poetry but I needed something to write*

October!!!!!!!!!!
I am in secret poem competition with Video Girl 705. Tell who's poem you think is better
(hint, it will always be me :)
PS- I GET EXTRA POINTS FOR RYMING!!!!!!!!
October
A falling leaf hits the ground.
Children laughing all around.
Breathing in the crisp fall air.
I see Jack-o-laterns- what a scare!
Jumping into an auburn leafpile,
their bright colors make me smile.
Trees slowly shedding their leaves,
losing their multicolored sleeves.
I love to sit and watch the seasons,
the sun, the leaves, both good reasons.
Winter is coming, fast approaching.
On the snows it is encroaching.
The leaves will be buried then.
But next year fall will come again.
(hint, it will always be me :)

HALLOWEEN NEVER GETS OLD!!!!!!!
Some strange, silly people think that if you are over the height of 5' 4" or over the age of 12 that you are too old to go trick-or-treating. My opinion is that you are never to old for HALLOWEEN! Halloween is a timeless holiday that all should enjoy. Never say it is childish. Never say it is dumb. NEVER give up on Halloween.

For Anyone and Everyone Who Likes PEACEFUL Poetry
Water rippling in the duck's wake.
There's serenity here on the quiet lake.
Majestic trees so many miles tall.
Red and orange leaves heralding in the fall.
Wise old mountains, centuries old.
So many secrets still untold.
As the wind blows, the noises cease.
This lake, this season, this is peace.

Banned Books are BAD!
Banned books are soooo stupid!! First of all, books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and even THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR have been banned!!!! Not only are good, thoughtful books banned, but some are banned for terrible reasons like "it promotes obesity" [Very Hungry Caterpillar] or "written during the cold war" for the Dr. Seuss book The Butter Battle Book. This is crazy and having a week to celebrate them?? Every week should be a No Banning Books week.

MY BLOG #1!!!!
OMG?? Did you hear about…?
It’s what everyone has been talking about for more than the past year. The election of 2008 is what the buzz is all about. Sure, there’s a story about every aspect of a VP, campaign manager, or candidate’s life. But what about their opinions on everything? Every one knows about Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old pregnant daughter. However, a lot of people didn’t know that if Huckabee was elected, he would have tried to change parts of the constitution so they would involve God. I think there is just too much fuss about candidates’ personal lives and not nearly enough about the real issues. I mean “how old are Barack Obama’s daughters?” Oh, ten and seven. But ask, “what will McCain do about global warming?” Many people will have no idea.
I personally prefer Barack Obama’s stand on the issues but I try not to be too harsh to any candidate’s stand. However, it really frustrates me, in any kind of election, when people promise improvements that will never be realized, even in elections for SCA or club presidents. Oh, well. Good old American politics.
